Special Equipment

You will need a krumkake iron to make these delicate, crisp cookies.

cup melted butter
¾ cup sugar
2 eggs
¾ cup whole milk
cup all-purpose flour
½ tsp vanilla extract
optional flavorings, such as almond extract, orange extract, or lemon extract, to taste.

Preheat krumkake iron over medium heat (or turn on electric krumkake iron).

Mix together butter and sugar in a bowl. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well with a spoon after each addition. Pour in the milk, and add the flour and vanilla (and any optional flavorings). Mix well.

Place a teaspoon of batter on the hot iron and press the halves together. Cook until browned, about 30 seconds per side. Use a table knife or thin spatula to remove from iron and immediately roll around a cone and let harden. Dust with powdered sugar when cool if desired.
